I make paintings to give pleasure to others and to take pleasure for myself from the fun and sensuality of mixing the colors, splashing and rubbing the paint and the quiet hours of careful crafting. I have a fond eye; a taste for the unique personality of that child, tree, boat or duck. My quirky combination of materials and techniques are borrowed from etching, monotype, watercolor, silkscreen and charcoal drawing. I paint on aluminum with oil. I use tools meant for other things, craft knives, cement trowels, grinders, brooms, electric engravers and sign-makers transfer tape. Painting is my way of slowing down to see clearly. I take delight in moments of order and heart in a moving world. I gather pieces of images from memory and feeling, bits of photographs and drawings and coax them into relationship with each other and with my abstract field filled with color and texture.
